BHAVISH AGGARWAL (Co-Founder of Ola Cabs & Ola Electric)
After
having a negative taxi experience, Aggarwal conceived the idea for a cab firm,
and in 2010 he and Ankit Bhati founded Ola Cabs. In 22 Indian cities, Ola Cabs
has established itself as the most popular alternative for many customers and has
grown to be India's largest network of personal transportation services. Ola Cabs, an international ride-sharing business with its
headquarters in Bangalore, is an Indian corporation. It also operates in
additional industry sectors, such as cloud kitchens and financial services. Ola
Cabs purchased Bangalore-based TaxiForSure in March 2015 for about US$150
million (12.37 billion). Users of the Ola mobile app have had access to TFS
cabs since June 2015. Later on in the year, in November, Ola paid an unknown
sum to purchase Geotagg, a provider of trip-planning software. In an effort to
diversify beyond cab aggregation, Ola purchased struggling foodtech company
Foodpanda India in December 2017 with the goal of capitalising on the expanding
food delivery industry. With the acquisition of Ridlr (formerly Traffline), a
public transportation ticketing service, in April 2018, Ola made its second
acquisition. Ola invested another $100 million in the scooter rental startup
Vogo later in August 2018 and again in December.
